When I know I am going to have a busy morning, instead of skipping breakfast I make a smoothie. This smoothie is great for breakfast because it has both protein and quality fats. The protein and fat combination at breakfast time is that they’re essential to ensure your blood sugar levels remain stable throughout the day.

Ingredients

Serves: 1

  • 1 serving vanilla whey protein powder or 2 tbsp LSA mix/ground flaxseeds
  • 1 tbsp greek yoghurt (optional)
  • 2 tbsp raw walnuts
  • 1/4 or 1/2 ripe banana ( frozen banana works well)
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
  • 1 tsp stevia/maple syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla powder
  • squeeze of lemon
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 cup almond milk – sugar free

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients into a blender. Blend all together until you reach a smooth consistency.
  2. I love to top my smoothies with crushed nuts, seeds or gluten free museli – making them spoon eating consistency!
