As a special treat, I’ve extracted some of one of the chapters from my new book below. I hope you love it!
MY PHILOSOPHY ON FOOD
“To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art.”
– Francois de la Rochefoucauld
We all have to eat – but what, how and when we eat is what affects our health and happiness.
Personally, I believe food can heal the body.
I don’t subscribe to any dietary labels; instead, I believe in fuelling and nourishing my body with real, whole foods. That means clean, unprocessed foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. No additives, no preservatives, and no artificial ingredients. The body recognises and knows how to break these ‘clean’ foods down, whereas processed foods are foreign.
Why would you want to overload your body with chemicals and toxins? That just doesn’t make sense to me!
I choose nutrient-rich food that serves as medicine for the body and soul.
My diet looks like this:
I believe health and nutrition is a lifestyle. As such, extreme restrictions and diets rarely work in the long term. They just put extra stress on your mind and body
Finally, I believe in eating sustainably – for both you and the world!
Are you ready to start eating well and feeling amazing? Let’s talk about the basics of healthy eating.
All you need to know about nutrients
Good health comes down to finding the right balance of macronutrients in your body. Everyone has a unique optimal balance, and tuning in to your body’s needs will help you find yours.
Many of us focus on the protein, carbs, and fats we consume – all of which are very important for our energy – but we rarely stop to think about the nutrient density of food. Nutrients not only sustain and support us, but they also help us to flourish.
Before you eat, ask yourself, “will this food nourish me? Will it feed my cells the nutrients they need to function properly?”
Wholefoods are the answer. They are loaded with nutrients and enzymes, both of which are necessary for every chemical process in the body.
Too many ‘diet plans’ hone in on strict macronutrient ratios – low carb (Atkins), high protein (Dukan) and high fat (Ketogenic diet) – when food quality is much more important. I strongly believe that if you eat natural, healthy foods and eat according to your body’s needs, you will inevitably find a macronutrient balance that suits you.
These are the macronutrients your body needs to perform at its peak.
I want to inspire you with delicious, indulgent and healthy food – and to also help give you the tools to understand how to eat intuitively with your body. You can read more in my book, The Healthy Life, available here.
I want to empower you to make good choices, every day. I want you to enhance your understanding of health and nutrition. I'm committed to making sure you live the best life. Because you deserve it. Are you ready to start feeling great?
