Best Hotels to Stay in L.A: The Dorchester Collection

You guys know I adore boutique hotels – small and intimate but absolutely luxurious if you choose the right one. It completely enhances the experience of travelling abroad.

I travel to L.A. quite often and I have to say – the Hotel Bel Air and Beverly Hills Hotel are two of the best hotels I have seen in California. If you are looking for total comfort and luxury, look no further than the Dorchester Collection properties. Trust me.


Hotel Bel Air

I knew as soon as I walked into the lobby, complete with couches and a fireplace, this place was going to be amazing. You are treated like absolute royalty. You get the full attention of every staff member who ensures your every move is taken care of. The service is world class.


The property is surrounded by a well manicured garden and gorgeous little lake. Picture perfect. Not to mention, my room was another level of amazingness – huge! It had the most luxurious bed (the best hotel bed I have ever slept on) and a little patio covered in roses.


A highlight for me was the healthy breakfast menu! The most delicious omelettes, porridge, acai bowls and smoothie options. The coffee is also divine – and they have almond milk guys! No matter the dietary requirements– you will be looked after.

Despite it’s luxury, it really did have a homely vibe. It was like I was living in the suburbs of Bel Air and I adore feeling like a local wherever I am on holiday – you get a better understanding of the city, don’t you think?

The best news is that down the road is the fabulous sister property, The Beverly Hills Hotel, which, in my opinion, is the best hotel in L.A. – no doubts. Hotel Bel Air is just a smaller, more intimate version. So it just depends on what kind of holiday you are after!

If you are in the mood for a little more action, bigger pool vibes, evenings with Jazz music and Prosecco – this is the place.

My room had a fireplace guys. If you know me – this is literally my dream situation! I couldn’t believe the level of luxury and comfort in my room. I even had a mini kitchen to use (perfect for a nutritionist) and a divine lounge area to work in – with a proper desk for my laptop!

The highlight for me was definitely the emphasis on healthy food – the most incredible breakfasts in the courtyard and pool area – which had its own healthy juice/smoothie bar! And the pool menu is full of healthy options – salads and even clean healthy cocktails.

They also have a brilliant private car service that will take you to the Beverly Hills shopping area whenever you need to go AND you’re in walking distance to some of the best shops and restaurants – the area is prime!


I really don’t write about places that I don’t genuinely love – and I was so genuinely impressed by both of these 5 star hotel properties. These are honestly places for your bucket list.



Tips for choosing the best accommodation:


  • Location, location, location! It makes such a difference to your trip. Do some research before you go – find out the best spots, whether you want to be in the heart of the city or somewhere a bit more quiet/suburban vibes…
  • If you love yoga like me, it’s so helpful to be near a studio! I always research the best yoga studio in the area and try to find accommodation near that.
  • Make sure you are within walking distance of a bus stop/train station if you don’t have a car! Not only does this encourage you to get some incidental exercise – but it makes getting exploring a city a whole lot easier.
