Tell us a little about who you are, what you do, how you got here:

The way I got to where I am right now is simply by following my heart and trusting my own inner guide – my intuition. For years I was living according to what they wanted or what I thought was expected of me and it created so much disharmony within me that I suffered years of anxiety and depression. I have always been interested in alternative therapies in particular nutrition and its effect on healing and wellness and about 2 years ago I literally took a giant leap of faith – quit my magazine marketing job and began to follow my heart not my head. Since then the opportunities have been endless and it has been a wild rollercoaster ride and so much fun! 

What does ‘health’ mean to you?

Health is a whole, it is all encompassing. It is health of the mind body and soul. That is realizing all three need to work together and be well ‘nourished’ in order to work harmoniously. We can feed ourselves all the great food in the world and work out for 3 hours a day at the gym – but if we have a lack of self love and acceptance within the core of who we are – we will be imbalanced and therefore not healthy.

How do you manage to stay so fit and healthy?  Please share with us  your dietary philosophy/secrets:

I eat intuitively according to what my body needs and wants. For the past two years my body does not want meat or dairy so I follow a predominantly vegan diet. This just works for me personally. For my body I like to keep it moving with yoga, dancing, running and swimming. For my mind I practice meditation and self love rituals.

What brings balance to your life?

Lots of yoga, breathing and being with nature. Essentially just coming back to my center being.

Your favorite healthy recreational activity?

Same as the above.

Who is your greatest health inspiration?

Anyone who is willing to put their health first because they love themselves that much that they only do what is right for them. So that applies to many people. 

Where is your favorite place on earth?

You know I have travelled to many amazing lands and I have realized my favourite place is really wherever I am at any given time. Because if I am present in every moment every place is amazing!

What is your favorite healthy meal/snack?

Anything cacao-ey! I am a raw chocolate addict so cacao bliss balls, or cacao avocado pie, anything along the raw chocolate line.

What is your favorite healthy neighborhood restaurant?

There isn’t a great deal in my neighborhood in Brisbane but the closest healthy café to me that I am obsessed with is the Conscious Café in Byron Bay.

What is next on the cards for you, what are your goals and aspirations?

I am off to India in January to do my Yoga Teacher training and then going on a bit of a pilgrimage. I am planning to go to Thailand and Bali and work on some health retreats over there and work with some natural healers & learn a variety of different healing modalities.

Choc-Coconut Smoothie

Ingredients:

Serves 1

  •  1 Thai coconut (use flesh and water)
  • 2 teaspoons raw organic cacao powder
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 3 medjool dates
  • 1 handful almonds
  • 1 cup ice

Method:

Open the coconut and pour the coconut water into the blender. Scoop out the coconut flesh and also place in the blender. Place all the other ingredients into the blender on high speed until smooth.
