  1. Tell us a little bit about yourself – who you are and what you do.


My name is Melissa Ambrosini and I am the bestselling author of Mastering Your Mean Girl, I am a speaker, entrepreneur and self empowerment coach. I help empower women to unlock their full potential so they can become wildly wealthy, fabulously healthy and bursting with love.   1. What was the ‘uh ha’ moment that inspired you to get into health and wellbeing?


Back in 2010 I ended up in hospital with a whole host of health issues. I had a cocktail of health issues from adrenal fatigue, thyroid problems, leaky gut, candida, SIBO, high levels of mercury, hives, serious hormonal imbalances, depression, an eating disorder, loads of vitamin and mineral deficiencies, adult acne and eczema all over my body. And because my body was so run down and my immune system shot, I suddenly developed a serious case of the cold sore virus (and I mean serious). I had cold sores all over my face, in my mouth and down my throat — I couldn’t eat, drink, talk or even open my mouth. If that’s not a big enough wake-up call from the universe I don’t know what is. I was also dealing with panic attacks, anxiety, depression and an eating disorder. I was very unwell, unhealthy and unhappy and I knew that I needed to get my health and life sorted. That was the start for me on my health and wellness journey.


  1. Talk us through a typical day in your life…


Upon rising I have a big glass of warm temperature, clean, filtered water with lemon or apple cider vinegar to kick start my digestion. I then do oiling pulling, some yoga on my bedroom floor in my PJs, then sit for a 20 minute meditation. After that it’s breakfast time 😉


Breakfast (like all my food) is always changing as I listen to my body and eat in alignment with the seasons, but at the moment I am enjoying my fatty latte which is a recipe from my ebook The Glow Kitchen. The fatty latte is full of good quality saturated fats which are great for brain cognition and keeps you fuller for longer which is why I don’t need a mid morning snack.


Then I get stuck into work. I knuckle down on my 3 MIT’s (most important tasks) for the day.


I break for lunch around 12:30pm (ish). Lunch is usually in the sun and I have a massive plate of veggies with some protein and good fats like olive oil or avocado. I also have a spoonful of fermented veggies to help feed the good gut bacteria.


The afternoon I usually book all my meetings or I get outside and go for a walk. For afternoon tea I will usually have a cup of bone broth or a big glass or filtered water. I am not a massive snacker. I always make sure I tune into my body and make sure I actually want something and I am not just eating out of habit, boredom or to fill an emotional void.


I always have a medi in the afternoon before dinner. Dinner is very similar to lunch, loads of veggies, salad, protein and fermented veg. My favourite dinner is organic slow cooked lamb. Yum Yum!


  1. Three foods you can’t live without?


I LOVE vegetables SO MUCH especially brussel sprouts, cauliflower and broccoli, covered in loads coconut oil and ghee, turmeric, cumin and salt and pepper… mmmm yumo!



  1. What’s your go-to snack for those days on the run?


I am not a massive snacker but if I was on the go and needed a snack I would take some bone broth or activated macadamia nuts from Star Anise Organic Wholefoods.


  1. And any last words of advice or tips for those starting out on their health journey?


Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. Everyone’s body is very different and what works for me won’t necessarily work for you. It’s best to tune into your body and cultivate a beautiful relationship with yourself and your body. Always listen to your body and take 3 deep breaths before you eat and say ‘thank you’ for the beautiful food placed in front of you. Bless your food and take your time with it, there’s no rush.

And remember that it doesn’t matter how much kale you are eating, if you haven’t mastered your inner Mean Girl you are wasting your time and money. Master that inner Mean Girl and fall head over heels in love with your beautiful self first, and the rest is so much easier 😉
