  1. Tell us a little bit about yourself – who you are and what you do.

 

I am the Global Marketing Manager for Trilogy Natural Products and our sister brand Goodness Natural Beauty Lab. I look after the full marketing mix for these two brands, from NPD and research to advertising campaigns, PR and consumer activations. Our headquarters are based in Auckland, New Zealand and from there we set up the global strategy for our overseas markets. We have a small and tight marketing team based in Auckland.

 

On a personal level, I am French and moved to New Zealand over 5 years ago to discover the country, after a few years in Canada and the US. I fell in love with the country and never left

 

  1. What was the ‘uh ha’ moment that inspired you to get in to the organic beauty world?

 

I discovered natural skincare a bit by accident. Years ago I was working on product development for the leader in small domestic appliances. While conducting focus groups we discovered that more and more women in Europe were creating their own skincare at home as they were more and more wary of all the nasties you could find in the current product offering. A year later we launched a small appliance allowing you to create your own natural skincare at home! During the product development process I spent most of my time in the lab with a formula expert and meeting with natural ingredients suppliers. When I moved to NZ I worked for 3 years for a Beauty Giant, in the skincare category. At the time Trilogy was still relatively small and experiencing amazing growth. A few years later, after being diagnosed with IBS I decided to change a bit my food habits. I stopped eating gluten and workwise also changed side and am now working for the #1 natural skincare brand in New Zealand.

 

  1. What does your morning beauty routine consist of?

 

I try to keep it quick and simple in the morning, as I don’t have much time (and love my beauty sleep).

 

I cleanse every morning with our Very Gentle Cleansing Cream, I like it especially in the morning as it has a very gentle formula and is unscented. I follow up with a few drops of Rosehip Oil Antioxidant +, our new Rosapene™ Radiance Serum and an SPF15 lotion. Then ready for make-up! I also always add a few drops of Certified Organic Rosehip Oil to the tips of my hair, it’s great heat protection when you straighten your hair often.

  1. The one product you swear by?

 

Not easy to pick one!

 

Love our new Pure Plant Body Oil. It is a great blend of rosehip, sweet almond and apricot oil. It is unscented and smoothing. Otherwise I cannot live without a great serum. I am a huge fan of silky textures and Rosapene™ Radiance Serum certainly delivers!

  1. What are your beauty non-negotiables?

 

Sunscreen and SPFs – so important when you live on this side of the world – and a great moisturiser.   I’m currently using Trilogy’s Vital Moisturising Cream SPF15.

  1. Talk us through a typical day on your plate…

 

I am not really a morning person so try to get up as late as possible… Usually around 7am, and then I get ready in record time! I always start with breakfast. For me it is the most important meal of the day and I really enjoy my quiet time. I also use this time to clear the emails I got overnight from our overseas markets. It is usually egg whites with a piece of fruit and a herbal tea. Or some gluten-free toasts with French jam or Manuka Honey.

 

Then shower, hair and make-up and off to work. I am quite lucky to live only 20min from work. I don’t drink coffee so when I am on the go I will grab a fruit smoothie to keep me running.

 

I am usually in the office between 8.15 and 9 (on a bad day). My days are packed with meetings, team catch ups and briefings. I have a team of eight and we work across several countries (mainly NZ, AU, USA, UK and Asia). Every day is quite different with lots deadlines, so constant adrenaline. I sip on still water and chamomile tea throughout the day and snack on 1 or 2 piece of fruit or nuts during the day. I am constantly jumping up from my desk to chat to visitors or brainstorm ideas with my team, so I never sit still for too long.

 

I have to admit lunch is a bit hectic, I’ll grab a salad or a sandwich for lunch and try to clear my inbox during that time. Or go to another meeting.

After 5pm things usually calm down a bit and I really enjoy working in the office a bit later at night when nobody is around and I can complete tasks uninterrupted. As I am a bit of a late bird I get much more done at night than in the morning.

 

For dinner, we discovered 2 years ago delivery food boxes and it literally saved us! I know that when I am back from a long day that we have all the necessary ingredients for a healthy dinner. My husband and I take turns depending on who is home first. We really enjoy that time together when we can talk about our day and relax. Usually we watch a TV show or movie together before heading to bed around 10.30/11pm.

 

  1. What is your indulgence of choice? Food or otherwise!

 

Hard to choose as according to my husband I am a food snob. But if I had to pick one I would have to say cheese! I love them all (soft, hard, non-pasteurised, blue…).

Otherwise non-food related, I would take a stack of books to a desert island. I am a big reader and can read a book a day when I am on holiday.

 

  1. What’s your go-to snack for those days on the run?

 

I am not a big snacker. I think it is because I grew up in France where we are focusing a lot on meal time, with 3 key meals a day (breakfast, lunch which is usually an hour even when you work, and dinner which is the family dinner). So during the day I try to only snack on fruits and nuts. But I have to admit that sometimes the afternoon sweet craving kicks in and I enjoy every now and then some chocolate or lollies.

 

  1. Three things you can’t live without?

 

My phone (unfortunately), yummy food and a book!

 

  1. … And any last words of advice or tips for those starting out on their health journey and wanting to include more organic products in their routine?

 

Believe in yourself and don’t compare yourself to anyone else.

Don’t beat yourself up for the things you don’t do well or could improve. Every step on the journey counts!

I have to admit I could really do with more exercise but I have found a great skincare routine that works for me, and I am not doing too bad food-wise. I think it is a good start!

When I started my studies, I was drinking lots of coffee and I was eaten the wrong foods, and feel bad about it, I wasn't at my best.
