The JSHealth Spring Cleanse… Join Me!

Health & Lifestyle
spring-cleanse

I’m embarking on a 7 day seasonal cleanse next week and I want you to join me!

Spring is the perfect time to detox your body – to eat cleaner and more fresh food, rid your environment of toxins, get active and restart your system!

I will be doing it strictly for 5 days, starting October 17th, but if you feel amazing – keep going for 7 or 14 days!

The results can be amazing! Your skin will be glowing, your gut will be healed, your liver will be cleared, your energy will be restored, your sleep will be deeper and your weight will be balanced! It’s a total body renew – perfect for giving your body some extra TLC and increasing vitality before the best Summer months!

Throughout the next week I’ll be posting tips and tricks, as well as my step-by-step cleanse formula to help you look and feel your best as you progress – it’s time for a fresh start – a more energetic, vibrant and healthy YOU!

Tell-tale signs your body needs a break:

  • Feeling tired, sluggish or lethargic
  • Trouble concentrating and staying focused
  • Weight loss is difficult
  • Anxiety/depression
  • Hormonal imbalance
  • Irritability
  • Low libido
  • Skin problems
  • Allergies
  • Bloating/reflux/indigestion
  • Insomnia
  • Mood changes

What can I expect from a detox?

Cleansing is the perfect way to give your body a much-needed break, focusing on the systematic organs – namely the liver, gall bladder, lungs, lymphatic system and skin – it can work wonders for your physical, mental and spiritual health! I’m talking glowing skin, a calm and settled gut, reduced stress, more energy, better sleep, less junk cravings, improved eating habits, release of stored toxins and waste, rebalanced hormones and a happier you!

However you may feel a little awful for the first two days – this is normal. This is your body starting to cleanse.

So… What is the JSHealth Signature Cleanse?

Cleansing, to me, means giving the body a rest! We live in a world full of toxins and unfortunately, our bodies accumulate the toxic build up from a variety of areas of our lives. We’re exposed to these harmful substances all the time; they’re in our diet (pesticides, microbes and mercury for example) and the air we breathe (disinfectants, deodorants, gasses released by fresh paint etc.) Fortunately, our bodies are equipped with an excelled system to handle those toxins – enzymes throughout the body that are constantly breaking down nasties and helping to flush them out. A detox works by optimizing that system.

Will you join me?

This time round, I want you guys to join me in my seasonal cleanse. Just follow the step-by-step cleanse formula and my tips and tricks on Facebook  and Instagram.

Phase One: Cutting out the Nasties

What you will need to CUT for the next 7 days:

  1. Caffeine
  2. Alcohol
  3. Cow’s Dairy
  4. Refined sugar and sweeteners
  5. Wheat and Gluten
  6. Red meat (for now!)
  7. Bad fats: trans fats found in vegetable oils as well as processed and deep-fried foods

Opt for seasonal veggies, fresh fruit, gluten-free grains (like quinoa, brown rice, buckwheat), nuts & seeds, high quality, organic proteins (except for red meat) and coconut oil or extra-virgin olive oil in your cooking. A full grocery list of detox-friendly foods can be found at the end of this post!

Phase Two: Lifestyle tips and tricks to get the most out of your cleanse!

  1. Sweat!

Get your blood and lymphatic system flowing to accelerate the release of toxins. Try and exercise for at least 30 minutes each day – whether that is interval training or resistance/weight training, yoga or a brisk walk – work out what your body loves and commit to it for the full two weeks!

  1. Drink water, herbal teas and chlorophyll

Aim for 2-3 litres of filtered water a day to help your kidneys flush out toxins. Herbal teas are also great for increasing fluid intake and cleansing – I love dandelion root, lemon ginger, liquorice and green tea.

  1. Supplements to support you

All dosages to be directed by a health practitioner.

  1. Herbs & Spices

Add flavour without the nasties with herbs and spices! My detox faves are turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg and cayenne pepper.

  1. Increase your greens!

Nutrient density + antioxidant power = Super-greens: the ultimate cleansing foods. Dark leafy greens are best e.g. kale, spinach, broccoli, rocket and silverbeet. Adding more greens to your diet is the best thing you can do for your health.

  1. 8 hours of sleep!

Commit to rest everyday – it allows our bodies to heal and regenerate new cells – so important when you’re cleansing!

  1. Care for your emotional self

When we cleanse, our bodies flush out toxins and sometimes this can cause certain emotions to rise – we feel more sensitive, maybe a little more vulnerable so make sure you set aside time for YOU. Practice deep breathing, meditate, go for a walk in nature and embrace solitude. Enter the JSHealth Stress-Free Zone for at least 20 minutes each day! We want to soothe and nourish our minds and souls during any kind of cleanse.

Phase 3: Detoxifying your Environment

Once you’ve started cleansing internally, it’s time to look at the outside factors contributing to the toxin build-up and remove those too!

  • Be mindful of what you are breathing in. Make a point of looking at the contents of your cleaning products – switch to natural detergents.
  • Use aluminium-free deodorant.
  • Buy organic whenever possible. Wash or peel fruit and veggies to remove pesticides otherwise.
  • Invest in a good quality water filter and use a stainless steel bottle instead of plastic.
  • Rearrange your daily schedule to minimise time spent in traffic.
  • Minimise exposure to plastics: use paper bags to store food, mason jars instead of plastic containers and don’t heat foods in plastic!
  • Choose cosmetics wisely – try switching to natural skin and hair products or even make your own! Don’t use fake tan and use natural sanitary products.

Two Detoxifying Rituals to Add to your Routine:

  1. Invest in a tongue scraper, found at most health stores/pharmacies. Scrape your tongue each morning after you wake up – it removes any coating, mucous and other debris that may have accumulated overnight.
  2. Invest in a dry body brush to increase blood circulation and lymphatic drainage Found at most health stores. Use a soft, natural bristled brush. Dry brush before your shower every morning. Use a light pressure as you brush. Starting at your feet, brush in small movements up towards your heart. When you are done, take a shower.

Are you ready for a happier, healthier you?

Now you’re equipped with the information you need to start cleansing. Will you be joining me? I’ll be posting tips, tricks and support throughout the two weeks on Facebook and Instagram – we’re all in this together. Use the hashtag #jshealthcleanse to show me your progress – I can wait to see how incredible you feel!

Good luck my loves! xo

TESTIMONIALS

Hi Jessica, I believe in synchronicity so when I was guided to you .on FB I was intrigued and inspired. I turned 46 last week and my husband bought me your book. I wanted to thank you for sharing your wisdom in such a beautifully presented way. My  copy is now filled with tabs and post it notes with actual notes throughout. I am dairy intolerant since having my gallbladder removed 15+ years ago, I don't eat meat, very minimal gluten and was told 12 months ago my gut was not digesting my food properly so I wasn't receiving sufficient nutrients and taking supplements would be a waste of time.  My weight fluctuates tending to gain rather than lose but now I believe I have a tool to help me bring my body back into balance that I need for my health and longevity of life - so again thank you. The first few steps to creating a stronger path forward for my health has found its foundation in your beautiful book, The Healthy Life.

With kindest regards Samantha

I'm writing this email because I wanted to tell you how much I love your blog and how you really helped me in my health journey. Thank you for sharing all your advices and experiences.

When I started my studies, I was drinking lots of coffee and I was eaten the wrong foods, and feel bad about it, I wasn't at my best. So I had done some research on the net but at first I didn't found advices that are for me, and then I found your blog. It was exactly what I was looking for, good advices and healthy recipes. Now I'm following your advices on rest more, and snacks between meals and prep the meals and take time for myself to reconnect with my body and let go my anxiety, etc, and I have a more balanced life and have a new relationship with food thanks to you.

I bought your book and it's honestly the best book I have ever bought. I suffer from IBS and anxiety. I have paid so much money seeing naturopaths however after reading your book and all of your tips I'm noticing so much of a difference, so simple and easy to follow. And symptoms have dramatically decreased. Also you have helped me to relax. Currently drinking the protein health smoothie! Thankyou your amazing.

Hey Jessica!
I haven’t yet brought ‘The Healthy Life’, but I do have the clean life and your slim down plan! I would like to thank you so much for the knowledge your share and the message you put across about health and wellness. I’m studying Nutritional Medicine in Melbourne and absolutely love the philosophy that you share with your JSHealth community. The work you’ve done to show people that leading a healthy lifestyle isn’t boring, tasteless, difficult or depriving is amazing and hope to share the message myself one day. You’ve inspired me to start my own blog , to share the message and have taught me so many things about my own health! You should be proud of your achievements! Thank you again

- Jacinta

I searched for help and tips through the Internet and found Jessica Sepel. This is seriously not exaggerated, but she was the reason why I have dared myself to eat again, to have snacks in between, to nourish my body. I could slowly improve my negative thoughts about my body image and my stupid anxiety of gaining weight. Besides, The Cleanest Gut was awesome too! A huge thank you! Especially from my mum. Seriously, without you I wouldn’t be where I am now!

@mariashealthytaste

Congratulations on your new book! It looks absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been following you on Instagram for a few years and you’ve inspired me to slowly but surely eat healthier without giving myself a hard time when I don’t. It made me so happy (and weirdly proud) to see the Daily Mail article on The Healthy Life. I remember trying out your recipes before you even had your eBook out! I can’t wait to get my hands on the book. Keep up the great work.

– Sophie

Cooking in this way truly brought out the foodie in me and has instilled a huge passion for health and wellness! Life throws you hard and frustrating things sometimes but I truly believe that this is where we learn more about ourselves and what our passions in life are! Thank you for inspiring me on my journey to health and wellness!

@freed_from_foodie

I am a yoga teacher in Johannesburg and am thrilled to have bought your book today. I love making healthy, nutritious food for my family, friends and fellow yogis! Thank you for this book and your inspiration (had to share a pic of my book on my recipe stand in the kitchen).

– Helene

I bought your beautiful book during the week and told my bestie to go out and buy it also! I love love love it. It is the book I would give to my younger self if I could (I am 41 years old). Everything is just so sensible and informative and is definitely a book all teenagers should have. This should be a text book for girls becoming teens. I will love going back and re-reading it many many times and can't wait to make more of the recipes. Thank you Jess - you are an incredibly inspiring woman and you should feel so proud

Michelle Curtis
