A Homework Assignment

That’s right – if you’re reading this, I’m giving you a homework assignment.

I can speak with absolute certainty that it’s the most important homework assignment you’ve ever done. In your adult life, at least. And I know that because I completed it myself!

As I mentioned, I’ve had the privilege of working with Dr. Libby to target immune system, thyroid and digestion support. And while her guidance helped me manage those issues, she also guided me on an equally important topic – emotional care. It’s undeniable that our physical and emotional wellbeing are linked. It is impossible to cure what is ailing our bodies if we are not caring equally for our souls. Here is what Dr. Libby recommends:

Do what you love. Write a list of things you love that make your heart sing…and do more of them. Some of us are out of touch with what makes us feel good, and things that also serve our health. So write a list of all of the things/moments/ experiences that you know light you up and bring more of those moments into your life this year. When you are happy you are in a much better position to help others and you will inspire people to do more of what makes them happy as well. Do more of what lights you up. And you’ll light others up as a result.

Write down 10 things you would like to do more of. Commit to doing at least 2 out of the 10 this week.

I can tell you that it made a huge difference not only in my outlook on the week ahead, but in my overall attitude. When I focused on doing things I truly wanted to do and made a commitment to making at least some of them happen, I felt an excitement and a freedom I hadn’t felt in a very long time. It didn’t feel like another item to check off the to-do list – it felt like honouring myself.

And that is your homework assignment. Identify what you’d like to do more of, and then honour and respect yourself enough to make it happen. Tell me – what will you commit to doing for you?
